e-LEARNING FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL STUDENTS

With support from different national organizations (Canada Health Infoway and Team Primary Care), AFPC, in conjunction with content experts, developed a national, competency-based, online resources portal: e-Learning for Healthcare Professional Students. This free, open-access e-learning platform features a series of modules for students in all health professions, including medicine, nursing, dentistry and pharmacy. Each module includes interactive activities and practical clinical cases. Quizzes and Certificates of Completion are available within the Learning Management System. Instructors can use the modules as their learning material with the support of AFPC.

Th e-portal includes courses on:

  • Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (indigenous and LGBTQ healthcare and cultural safety) - French translation sponsored by Uniprix-Proxim

  • Primary Care

  • Health Informatics

  • Health Promotion

ACADEMIC ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORD

AFPC has developed a bilingual electronic health record to be used in academia. It simulates hospital and primary care settings. It is aimed at enhancing medical, nursing, pharmacy and other healthcare students' clinical documentation and interprofessional collaboration skills by converting “paper-based” cases to e-charts.

Learners can explore realistic aspects of care including medical histories, vitals, consults, labs, medications, etc. A suite of tools allows instructors to quickly create assignments, manage cases, evaluate students and explore pedagogical innovations.
